After install
Install your license, run a first environment, and know how updates work.
Once you can sign in, three things are left: install your license, run a first environment to prove the appliance works end to end, and know how the appliance is kept up to date.
1. Install your license#
- Open Settings › Licensingas
admin. - Choose Install license file…and select your
onep.lic. ONEP verifies it before saving anything and confirms the edition, seats and expiry. - Check the editionThe interface reloads with the new edition; no restart is needed.
Without a license the appliance runs as Community, so Community needs no license file. If you use Cisco devices, upload your own license on the Cisco IOL license card on the same tab. You may have installed the license already in the License step of the first-time setup. See Licensing.
2. Check the appliance#
Open Settings › Status.
- Virtualization, under System information, should read Ready. If it does not, nested virtualization is not enabled on your hypervisor; see Requirements and sizing.
- Under Service health, Database, Cache and Background tasks should read Online. The ONEP Assistant reads Not connected until you set up an AI source in Settings › AI, which is optional; see AI Generator. An assistant that is not connected does not make the appliance degraded.
- The Network card lists the network checks, such as the virtual switch service, the virtual machine service and the management network. Each should read Healthy.
3. Run a first environment#
Deploy one small, single-device card from the Content Hub. Before you start, the Content Hub tells you if the appliance has too little memory for the card. Watch the build log, wait for the device to read Powered on, and open its console. The first build of a card downloads its parts from the vendor, so it needs internet and takes a while.
When you are satisfied, power the environment off and delete it. Delete removes everything it created. The Quickstart walks through this, and through building the same thing on the canvas.
4. Updates#
- Settings › Updates shows the product, edition, version and build you run.
- The appliance is updated by installing a new ONEP release. Update checks and one-click upgrades from inside the product are not part of this release.
- Each release is described in the Release notes.
See Updates for how version numbers work.
Next#
- Set the management address you want to keep: First boot and network.
- Protect the sign-in page before you publish the appliance: Users and roles and Remote access.
- Plan how you will back the appliance up: Backups and restore.
